Xavier is coming to town. Tonight! Sept.2nd

Xavier who?? Xavier Rudd, you haven't heard of him!!?!??! Brandon and I discovered him about 4 years ago. Word to Mouth.

He's an Australian musian/surfer. A one-man-band/multi-instrumentalist who plays guitars, Yidaki (didgeridoos), Weissenborn slide guitars, stomp box, harmonica, and percussion. He performs his songs’ guitar, didgeridoo and various percussion parts simultaneously—using a unique set-up that finds him literally surrounded by his various instruments and singing from behind a stand holding three didgeridoos (of different keys). He's just amazing! He was influenced by Neil Young and Paul Simon at a Young age. He's got many heartfelt songs and positive messages to share. Go to his site and get to know Xavier Rudd you'll be glad you did!

He'll be playing Eugene's McDonald Theatre on Sept. 2 at 8:00pm, I've already got my ticket!

Sunflowers and Squirrels

Aww my only sunflower. They only one that survived the slugs and the decapitation from the Squirrels.

I spoke too soon. I went out to the garden and I stopped by the sunflower and its gone. The Nasty little Squirrels had taken it away. I was mad, bad little squirrels!
But not this one:

This is "Ferris" by Mjkeeton on Etsy

a Totally Cute shop!

Just picked

  • from the Garden:

  • What to make?

Roasted Tomatoes, I gather the Roma tomatoes cut off the tops and place in a pan(top side down) to roast in the oven. After they start to Blacken turn off oven and let cool. Then you can take the skins right off. I put in freezer bags for winter stews, and soups.

Another thing that I love to do in to make Salsa. This is the recipe that I used:

    Ingredients:

    • 3 tablespoons finely chopped onion
    • 2 small cloves garlic, minced
    • 3 large ripe tomatoes, peeled and seeds removed, chopped
    • 2 green Chile peppers, finely chopped
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons cilantro, chopped fine
  • 1 1/2 to 2 tablespoons lime juice or lemon
  • salt and pepper
  • Preparation:
  • Combine onions and garlic with chopped tomatoes, peppers, cilantro, lime juice, salt, and pepper. Refrigerate for 2 to 4 hours to blend flavors.
  • Makes about 2 cups of salsa.

  • I also take the cherry, and pear tomatoes and half drizzle on Olive Oil , add Mozzarella balls, Squeeze lemon juice, sprinkle with Basil and salt and pepper. Serve on a bed of lettuce or just eat. What do you do with your tomatoes?

New Hats are on there way

I love taking old sweaters and turning them into something new. Hum lets see... a hat. I've been working on some new hats for winter. First I take the sweater and Felt it in the washer and dryer. Then check it out and see where the hat wants to come from. Then I take the hat and start needle felting onto it. Then I line it with fleece. Ta-da... there finished!

Here are three that you get to see first before I post on Etsy.
This Blue hat w/ the Unicorn on it isn't felted. Its Acrylic and Wool blend. The other two hats are.

So what do you think?

Oregon Coast!

Went to the Coast w/ the boys. What a special time to have with them. They both start school September 3rd. Elijah will be in all day Kindergarden, we'll see if he can do all day. If not I'll get to take him only half day. Oh oh back to the Coast. We got to Carl G. Washborne area and played around for while.

then off to the Hobbit Trail. Tis a secret trail. I won't tell were it is. We did hear some Hobbits, didn't see any though.

on Sunday

"Take me out to the ball game,Take me out with the crowd.Buy me some peanuts and cracker jack,I don't care if I never get back,Let me root, root, root for the home team,If they don't win it's a shame. For it's one, two, three strikes, you're out,At the old ball game."

Yes we went to the Em's Game it was so much fun. It was the boys first pro game of any sort. They loved it! Of course we had crackerjacks and hot dogs, it wouldn't be a game w/ out the o' stand bys.

This shot was first pitch, you can see Spenser Butte in the far right. The Emeralds didn't when against the Salem Volcanoes. Score was 10 to 7.

Lots of excitement, it made Brandon and I feel the love for the game again. We both played ball from T-ball to High School. It was nice to do something out of the ordinary.

We signed Adan up for the Young Eagles flight first thing. With in a half hour he got to go up in a Piper Cherokee. The flight was only 30 minutes long. Adan got to ride up front this time. The last two years he didn't get the chance. The controls were handed over to Adan in the air. He got to fly a plane!!! WOW, just wow. I wish I had this opportunity when I was younger.

Masks were made to represent animals because hunting in early times. Masks were sacred and said to have tremendous power. Used for healing, funerals, control, as well as initiation and fertility rites. Symbolic masks were devised to be worn during ceremonies of many ancient peoples. These masks portrayed gods, animals and spirits and were worn ceremonially for communicating with supernatural forces believed to rule the universe.
